Oscar Brown Block Historic Renovation
Claremont, New Hampshire
Located at the corner of Pleasant Street and Opera House Square, this vintage Civil War building is a key piece of Claremont's downtown history. The complex economic development finance package necessary to make construction possible prompted a partnership between MEDC and Main Street Claremont. Financing was accomplished by support from a number of agencies including the NH Community Development Finance Authority (CDFA), NH Business Finance Authority (BFA) and the Claremont Development Authority (CDA). With the substantial interior renovation nearing completion, the prominent two-story building contains approximately 11,000 square feet. Of that space, 6,000 square feet on street-level will be occupied by Sugar River Barber Shop and Sophie & Zeke's restaurant. The upstairs space will offer six residential units [four of them low to mid income] and one office space. This historic building renovation is an important step in achieving a revitalized downtown Claremont.
