Woodbound Inn/Lodge
Rindge, New Hampshire
Partnered with the Town of Rindge, MEDC is seeking CDBG funds to facilitate start up assistance to the new ownership of the Woodbound Inn and Lodge. The request will help with equipment purchases required for the growth of the business. The recently purchased facility is comprised of twenty-seven acres of land with water frontage on Lake Contoocook and ninety-one acres across the street that offer an extensive trail system that abuts Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forest land. When put into full operation, the lodge will be a full service inn with approximately thirty-nine overnight guest rooms, full service restaurant and banquet facility, golf course, beach on Lake Contoocook, tennis court and hiking/cross country ski trails. The Inn also promises the creation of a minimum of twenty-five new jobs, of which 60% will be dedicated to persons within the low to moderate income demographic for Cheshire County. The land that comprises the Woodbound was claimed, bought or settled circa 1760. The core of the lodge's central building was constructed circa 1820 and the establishment of an Inn/Lodge on the property can be traced to circa 1892.
